Mobility
Does the studio have wheelchair access?
Yes. We have done all we can to ensure that the studio is wheelchair friendly. If you have any specific requirements with regard to disabilities, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate you.
My mother finds stairs a little difficult, will that be a problem?
No, all our guest's rooms are on the ground floor, and there is easy access to both the rooms and the studio.
payments and cancellations
What are your terms and conditions regarding payment and cancellations?
A deposit of 20 % is payable at the time of booking. This deposit reserves your place on your chosen course and is fully refundable up to six weeks prior to the commencement of the course. The full balance is due six weeks before the start of the course.
If you cancel your holiday within four weeks of the start of the course, you are entitled to a refund of 50% of the total holiday cost. However, less than 14 days notice will result and 100% loss of the total holiday cost. We always endeavour to fill your place and, if successful will give you a full refund of any monies paid.
If, in the unlikely event that, Artist in Italy cancels your course, you will be offered a place on an alternative course or a full refund. Artist in Italy bears no liability for cancellation of booked holiday in the event of any unforseen circumstances such as natural disasters, strikes, acts of war, adverse weather conditions etc. Clients would be able to get compensation from their own insurance company.
Artist in Italy strongly recommends that you take out your own travel insurance.
Skills and knowledge,
I am worried that other students will be way ahead of me in terms of skill and knowledge, is this a problem?
My courses are aimed at beginners and intermediate artists, so even if you've never painted before, you will learn a huge amount in a week and go away, hopefully, with the confidence and the desire to continue painting.
Swimming pool
How far away is the pool from the house and will we have time to use it?
Of course, you are on holiday! The pool is a 2 or 3 minute stroll away from the house, depending on how quickly you want to get there… Remember the pool is not open all year round, as it is open air, and although the setting is stunning it might be a little chilly out of season!
The Studio
Can I use the studio in the evenings?
You certainly can, and whenever I am free I will endeavour to pop down, help out or advise, unless, of course, you would be rather left in peace! The aim of our art courses is for you to have as much time in the studio as you would like.
Transport
Can you arrange pick-up from the airports near you?
We can arrange for you to be picked up from Rome, Florence or Perugia airports. I understand that the cost for this service is around 150 euros, divided amongst the passengers (up to five people at a time).
I love using the trains in Italy, is there a good service in your area?
Chiusi, our local town, is a main hub for trains from all over Italy. There are regular trains to and from Rome and Florence and I will happily pick you up from Chiusi station when you arrive. If you need a timetable, contact us and I will send you the details.
Trip extensions
We would like some time to explore Tuscany and Umbria would it be possible for my wife and I stay on for an extra week after she has completed the art course?
Yes, that's a great idea! We would be happy for any of our guests to do this. Although we would not be able to provide meals and tuition for the extra week you are welcome to rent our accommodation on a self catering basis and enjoy continued use of the studio facilities should you wish. Please see the prices page for our discounts for the second week.
What to bring
What do I need to bring with me?
As a general guide just bring your normal holiday gear, though comfortable shoes would be useful. In terms of art materials I will provide field easels, drawing boards, and basic art supplies. Please feel free to bring your favourite equipment or any specialist media with which you would normaly work.
