  | To reflect the culture and history of the area where we live, all our courses are inter-woven with art history and the ‘great grand opera’ of the Renaissance, the stories and secrets are compelling and moving, the art and architecture breathtaking. I’m convinced they will provide inspiration and interest throughout the week. For example, the wonderful fresco cycle 'The Legend of the True Cross' a Renaissance masterpiece, remains in the chapel for which it was painted by the great Piero Della Francesca over 500 years ago. San Francesco, in Arezzo, just 45 minutes away, makes for an inspirational visit. I will take you there, give you a guided tour of this and many other treasures in this delightful Tuscan city, (the house of Vasari, the Cimabue crucifix and the extraordinary piazza). After a light lunch you will be free to explore the town and begin to collect reference material; drawings, photographs and small paintings, ready to work on back at the studio. Other stunning places you may visit are: Florence, Rome, Siena, Cortona, Pienza , the Val d’Orcia, Chiusi and Città della Pieve. I will also, of course, arrange transport to and from the destinations,as well as all entries.
